English Proficiency Tests

IAS has made it a compulsory that the students need to take any one of the following English Proficiency Tests to secure an admission to our ICPF program. Currently it´s also required when applying for PSP.

It is a must for all students to show english proficiency test results to the embassy when applying for visa. It is necessary to show that one has learned one foreign language successfully and will be able to travel to Germany and learn German successfully, too. For producing their English language skills the following tests are accepted (IAS recommends to do IELTS):

Note: Students, yet to take the test or waiting for results can still apply for ICPF  and PSP program, but the test result sheet must be produced to us before the VISA interview.


International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

The IELTS exam is mainly targeted at students who want to pursue their higher studies in various countries like in Europe like United Kingdom, Germany, France and in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand etc. The British Council conducts it. The test is taken in over 500 locations in more than 120 countries. In IELTS, the performance of a candidate will be evaluated based on a band score for each section. The overall score is the average of the band scores acquired in each of the sections. The maximum band score a student can get in any section is 9.The different sections of this test are: 

  • LISTENING
  • READING
  • WRITING
  • SPEAKING

The IELTS Reading and Writing modules have two options Academic and General Training. Students need to take the academic module as its set for those who want to role in foreign Universities and pursue their higher studies.

Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. This exam is conducted by the Educational Testing Services (ETS), and is administered wordwide. The maximum marks for this exam is 120. The TOEFL exams mainly consists of the following sections:

  • READING
  • LISTENING
  • SPEAKING
  • WRITING

Minimum Score of 80 is in need for ICPF/PSP Admission.


Pearson Test (PTE)

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) - Optional

The GRE stands for Graduate Record Examination. And this exam is mostly an admission requirement for Universities in United States of America. It tests various skills that you have acquired right from your kindergarten days. It mainly puts to test your verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, analytical writing and critical thinking skills that are not related to any specific field of study. In the graduate school admissions process, the level of emphasis that is placed upon GRE scores varies widely between schools and between departments within schools. The importance of a GRE score can range from being a mere admission formality to an important selection factor. Many European Universities also consider GRE as an English proficiency proof.

The maximum marks for this exam is 1600.
